Casting

Casting apron in a borehole is needed for preventing pollution underground

and to fix pedestals.

The pedestal is necessary for installing any kind of pump in the borehole.

We use 1:2:3 ratio to mix cement, sand and hardcore for casting. The casting is reinforced with wire mesh.

The recommended length in Uganda for  drainage channel is 3m in a sloping area and 6 m in a flat place.

Soak pit at the end of the drainage channel is not recommended by Uganda’s Directorate of Water Development in prevention of creating breeding areas for mosquitoes and other insects.
